Boho style wedding in Poland. Jagoda i Marcin, wedding in Radom

“Polish Gothic”

Sometimes an object reminds you of something, and you’re not quite sure what it is. That’s what happened to me with a broom during Jagoda and Marcin’s outdoor session. At first, the heat and bright sun made quick thinking difficult. Maybe that’s why it took a moment before I realized that the image of American Gothic by Gordon Parks from 1945 was knocking on the door of my sun-soaked consciousness. The photo, which depicts a woman with a broom against the backdrop of the American flag, is a parody of Grant Wood’s famous painting of the same name (the same title, that is, American Gothic, not Woman With a Broom Against the American Flag). And so, we made our modest contribution to the art of parody.

But humor and a good sense of self-awareness are just some of the qualities that Jagoda and Marcin possess. Their wedding was, above all, a big dose of emotions and great fun.

Radom: The Perfect Place for an Intimate Ceremony

Radom is a beautiful place for a wedding and holds a special place in my heart. It’s close to my heart because I began my wedding photography journey right here in Radom.

Radom is a city that is increasingly being chosen as a location for unique wedding ceremonies. While at first glance it might seem like creating the perfect backdrop requires vast spaces or exotic landscapes, the truth is that often all you need is a small piece of beautiful, natural surroundings. Radom and its surroundings offer many charming spots that can become the ideal setting for a boho-style wedding or any other special occasion.

Where Can We Go for a Photo Session in Radom?

  • Kościuszko Park
This is one of the oldest parks in Radom, perfect for romantic photo sessions. You’ll find beautiful pathways, picturesque bridges, and a pond that create a unique setting.
  • Borki Reservoir
This is an excellent spot for couples who want to capture water and greenery in their photos. The picturesque reservoir is surrounded by forest and offers many charming locations for an outdoor session.
  • Historic Żeromskiego Street
Walking along this street, you can come across beautiful, historic tenement houses that provide a great backdrop for elegant, urban wedding photos.
  • Radom Village Museum
This is the place for lovers of rustic vibes. The open-air museum, with its traditional wooden cottages, barns, and mills, creates a unique atmosphere and offers plenty of photographic opportunities.
  • Królewskie Źródła Nature Reserve
An ideal spot for couples who value closeness to nature. The reserve offers beautiful forests, springs, and charming paths that can be a perfect backdrop for natural, romantic photos.
  • Iłża Castle
Although it’s slightly outside Radom, Iłża Castle is a place worth visiting. The castle ruins on the hill offer stunning views and add a touch of historical atmosphere to the photo session.

But as you can see, it doesn’t take much to create a magical atmosphere—all you need is a piece of green meadow, an old park, or a picturesque spot by the river. In Radom, we can find such places that, although they may go unnoticed in everyday life, become true oases of peace and beauty on the wedding day.

But back to Marcin and Jagoda—here are the photos, and later I’ll write a bit more about boho-style weddings.

Boho Wedding: The Magic of Nature and Free-Spirited Elegance

A boho-style wedding is the dream of many couples who wish to combine naturalness, freedom, and elegance in one unforgettable day. Boho, short for “bohemian,” refers to an artistic, unconventional lifestyle filled with inspirations drawn from nature, culture, and travel. A boho wedding is the perfect choice for couples who value originality, ease, and closeness to nature.

Characteristics of the Boho Style

Boho style is all about harmony with nature, effortless elegance, and the blending of various cultural influences. Key elements include flowing, natural materials, a richness of patterns and textures, and muted, earthy colors. Decorations often feature handmade items crafted from natural materials such as wood, linen, cotton, or rattan. Flowers are also an essential element of boho style, often arranged in loose, wild bouquets, wreaths, and garlands.

In boho bridal fashion, you’ll find dresses with a relaxed fit, often made of lace, adorned with delicate fringes, embroidery, or beadwork. A boho bride might choose to wear her hair down with flowers woven in or a delicate wreath to add a touch of natural charm.

Organizing a Boho-Style Wedding

A boho wedding works best outdoors—on a meadow, in a garden, by a lake, or in a forest. Nature provides the perfect backdrop for a boho ceremony, adding a unique atmosphere to the event. Choosing the right location is crucial—the more natural and wild, the better. If the ceremony takes place indoors, it’s important to ensure that the space is bright, spacious, and decorated in natural tones.

Boho wedding decorations should be light, casual, and nature-inspired. Wooden furniture, handmade macramé, lanterns, candlesticks, and flowers in jars or clay vases are ideal choices. The wedding table can be adorned with linen runners, rustic plates and cutlery, complemented by colorful glassware and fresh flowers.

A boho wedding menu should be light, natural, and based on seasonal products. A great idea is to set up a buffet with a variety of appetizers, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as drinks served in glass bottles or pitchers.

Why Choose the Boho Style?

Boho style is perfect for couples who want to create an atmosphere full of ease, joy, and connection with nature. It’s a style that allows for creative expression and freedom while also introducing elements of romance and elegance. A boho wedding is not just a ceremony, but a true experience—a day full of magic, tranquility, and authenticity.

Thanks to natural decorations, light styling, and an atmosphere of harmony with the surrounding world, a boho wedding will remain in the memories of both the newlyweds and their guests as a unique and unforgettable event. Choosing the boho style means choosing a wedding that is not only fashionable but also close to the heart and soul.

What Equipment Was Used?

I’ve decided to sometimes share details about what and how I use during shoots, mainly because I don’t use anything special. Usually, it’s two “Mark III” cameras, both well-worn. One of them survived a fall from 2 meters when I left it on the car roof after a session (nothing happened). Both have well over 200,000 actuations. While I always encourage shooting with regular gear and not blaming it for anything, I also advise against being too influenced by it.

Cameras:

  • Canon 5D Mark III

Lenses:

  • Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4
  • Canon 85mm f/1.8 (yes, the regular one) 🙂
  • Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L

Flash Units:

  • Canon Speedlite 480EXII and
  • Canon Speedlite 480EXII
